Are you a recent college graduate planning to pursue medical school, PA school, nursing school, or another advanced degree in healthcare?

The Modern Dermatology Gap Year Program offers an opportunity to spend your gap year gaining meaningful, hands-on experience inside a busy, comprehensive dermatology practice.

As a full-time, paid member of our clinical team, you’ll work alongside our board-certified dermatologists and experienced advanced practice providers while gaining firsthand exposure to patient care, clinical workflows, and the day-to-day operations of a medical practice.

What You’ll Experience

Gap Year team members are immersed in the clinical environment and become an important part of the patient care team. Depending on the needs of the practice, responsibilities and learning opportunities may include:

  • Assisting with patient intake and room preparation

  • Learning clinical documentation and medical scribing

  • Working within the electronic medical record (EMR)

  • Supporting providers during patient visits

  • Observing and assisting with dermatologic procedures

  • Learning dermatologic terminology, diagnoses, and treatments

  • Developing professional patient communication skills

  • Understanding the workflow and operations of a modern medical practice

You’ll gain exposure to a broad range of dermatologic care while developing skills that can help prepare you for the next stage of your healthcare education.

One of the most valuable aspects of the Modern Dermatology Gap Year Program is the opportunity to learn directly from practicing healthcare professionals.

Our clinical team provides comprehensive care across medical, surgical, cosmetic, and pediatric dermatology, giving participants exposure to the many ways dermatology intersects with medicine, patient care, and overall health.

Working closely with our physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, medical assistants, and other members of the practice provides a unique perspective on collaborative patient care — and an opportunity to learn from professionals at different stages of their healthcare careers.

We are looking for motivated, compassionate individuals who have completed their undergraduate education and are considering or actively preparing for graduate-level healthcare training.

Program Details

  • The Modern Dermatology Gap Year Program is a full-time, paid clinical position designed for recent college graduates pursuing a future career in healthcare.

  • Opportunities may be available at our Westport and Greenwich, Connecticut locations, based on the needs of the practice.

  • A 12-14 months minimal commitment is expected.
