PRP, Hair Transplantation

Solutions for treating hair loss have come a long way – based on your situation and your goals, we can craft a customized treatment plan.

Platelet-Rich-Plasma Therpay (PRP)

An emerging treatment that can help regrow lost hair, with little pain and virtually no side effects. Platelets are the cells in the blood that help tissue to heal and grow new cells – they help promote hair growth by prolonging the growing phase of the hair cycle.

The in-office procedure takes about 30-45 mins and begins with a small blood draw (usually from the arm). The blood is then placed in a sterile tube that is spun down in a centrifuge to separate the different components of the blood. Red and white blood cells are divided from the platelets and the plasma (the clear fluid). This plasma now contains a higher than normal number of platelets and is called platelet rich plasma, or PRP. Next the PRP is injected into the scalp where the hair loss has occurred. Typically, patients will need monthly injections for 3 consecutive months, and then maintenance treatments every 6-12 months. The injection schedule will depend on your genetics, pattern and amount of hair loss, age and hormones.

Hair Transplantation

Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) is the latest advance in surgical hair transplantation. During the procedure hair follicles are removed one-by-one from permanent hair-bearing areas of the body and then re-implanted into areas experiencing hair loss. Since each follicle is being removed individually (vs. in a strip) the scarring is minimal, typically less than 1mm in diameter.

The procedure typically takes a full day to perform and patients can expect a 3-5 day recovery period during the healing process.
